View from the Opposition – Chelsea Part One

A bit about you:

Name: Craig Pickering

Current home town: Mansfield, Notts (but work and spend a fair bit of time in Leicester)

Birthplace: Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts

How long have you supported your team? 15 years

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: The awesome matchday atmosphere! Standing in the Shed End and looking across a sea of blue, and having a cheeky bit of banter (friendly of course) with the other fans.

Favourite match played by your team & why: I wasn't lucky enough to go, but the champs league final against Bayern was truly epic. I was in a pub in Leicester with loads of mates and the atmosphere was unreal. There were a fair few non-Chelsea fans in but everyone got behind them in the end and were chanting them on. That was the only game I have seen everyone turn blue for a night!

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Tough one, stuck between Zola and Drogba.

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Willian. He just always puts 100% into a shift and he can be that player, whether you start him or bring him on as a sub, that can make a difference to a game.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Willian again. Lately, he's been one of few Chelsea players on form and he just has that energy to change the game. But, you can never write off the likes of Costa and Hazard if their heads are in the game.

Player in our squad you most fear and why? Vardy. Chat s***,get banged! I could have said Mahrez after his last performance, but Vardy edges it for me.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Zouma. He's only a young lad but got the potential to be a long term replacement for Terry.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? Fourth or fifth.

How do you think you’ll do against us? Chelsea are on the back of a 2-0 European victory with them topping the group. Then again, Leicester are on the back of a 3-0 victory and re top of the PL! But I think most of the hype will be pre-match on the managers etc, I reckon a 1-1 draw.

General Questions:

What do you think of the summer transfer activity both in and out of your club? Nothing really to shout about. Pedro started off well but has simmered down immensely, and Falcao was risky on the back of an extremely poor season at united. Selling Cech was a mistake too. I feel that Mourinho/backroom staff loaned too many players out, some of those lads are decent enough to be on the bench, or at least rotated for games.

Who would you like to sign in the January transfer window? I think we need to look at a new striking option, and maybe a central defender. But I really don't think buying in is the solution, Chelsea have a largely unchanged league winning side, we need to be getting the most out the current squad and looking to bring youth in where possible.

Which three teams do you think will go down? Villa, Bournemouth and Norwich

Who do you think will win the league?  Man City.
