Trust Tournament Review Part 2

Brown Stripes kicked off the group 2 games with a 2-0 victory over Bryan Munich, which was followed by Pride Rock and LRI playing out a 1-1 draw. Last minute entrants Bohra United (who had actually come to play in a match double booked at the Dome) didn’t receive a welcoming from Bryan Munich who won 4-0.

Tournament favourites Brown Stripes were then held to a surprise 2-2 draw by Pride Rock, the LRI then claimed their first win beating Bohra 2-1. When Pride Rock came out 3-0 winners over Bryan Munich they looked favourites for the semi finals.

Brown Stripes were back to their winning ways with a 4-0 victory over LRI and with 7 points looked as thought the two finalist places were sealed, then the pressure told…..

Previous pointless Bohra then found form and beat Pride Rock 2-1, which sealed Brown Stripes place in the finals prior to their last game and left the door open for either the LRI or Bryan Munich to take the final place. LRI had the point advantage, but also creaked with Bryan Munich claiming victory 2-0 and their place in the semis.

The Brown Stripes then finished off the group with a 4-1 win over Bohra and in doing so claimed the highest number of points across both groups, so justifying their favourites to win standing.

1 Brown Stripes 4 3 0 1 12 3 9 10
2 Bryan Munich 4 2 2 0 6 5 1 6
3 Pride Rock 4 1 1 2 7 5 2 5
4 LRI 4 1 2 1 3 8 -5 4
5 Bohra Utd 4 1 3 0 4 11 -7 3

The Brown Stripes vs Ashby Kidz kicked off about a minute ahead of the other semi and a tighter contest ended with a 2-1 win for the Brown Stripes.

The second semi saw Denis Moran and Bryan Munich battle to a 1-1 half time score and with neither side managing to add to their tally in the second half, a sudden death penalty shoot out followed. Surprisingly the Denis Moran keeper took the first spot kick which was saved by his opposite number. However the Denis Moran Keeper couldn’t stop Bryan Munich’s first penalty which took them into the final.

The final was a keenly fought contest with the Brown Stripes trying to retain the ball once they were ahead and in the end ran out 3-1 winners to regain the trophy they last won in 2005.

John Adcock who organised the tournament then presented the medals to the finalists.

The Trust would also like to thank Simon Kimber and Alan Digby who did the majority of referring on the day and Katherine Adcock who provided all the catering for the event.
