It is always of interest when signing new players, to gain a perspective from a fan of the club we have bought the player from.
Today, we feature the views of Huddersfield Town Supporters Association board member (and Supporters Direct board member) Robert Pepper who provides his assessment of Lee Peltier.
‘Pelts’ was an integral part of the Huddersfield Town squad during his time at the club. I can’t recall a single time when he was dropped. Injuries and suspensions were the only things that kept him out of the starting line-up.
He came from Yeovil as a right-back and made that position his own with consistent, solid defending combined with a flair for attacking, although his crossing is not always of the highest quality.
He demonstrated his versatility in that first season when he switched to left-back to cover for an injured player. His consistency was recognised by his fellow professionals who voted him Players’ Player of the Season.
The last season saw him develop further when he played a very effective midfield rôle in front of the back four against Arsenal and went on to play many league matches in that position……
He was the fastest sprinter at the club and is also an extremely good header of the ball, even though he is only 5’ 10” tall.
Lee Peltier was definitely a key member of the squad and should have no trouble in raising his game to Championship level. What a shame he’s had to change clubs to get there! Good luck, Pelts!
