After our appeal for Wolves fans to take part, we received our best ever response, so tonight are the views of 2 fans who share their lack of optimism
A bit about you:
Name: Ian Morgans
Current home town: Wolverhampton Birthplace: Wolverhampton
How long have you supported your team? 24 years
Overview of your club:
Favourite thing about your home ground: The two statues of two legends Billy Wright and Stan Cullis; they’re not just Wolves greats but all time greats of the English game.
Favourite match played by your team & why: The play-off final victory against Sheffield United at the Millennium Stadium in 2003. We won 3-0 and the emotion and excitement of the game was incredible. It felt like the last stage of our long return journey back into the top division.
Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Steve Bull (like many, many more Wolves fans)
About our forthcoming match against you:
Your favourite current player in your squad and why? It’s hard to pick one at the moment, it’s been a season of poor performances and desperate disappointment. Wayne Hennessey won’t be playing on Thursday (he’s out for the season) but would probably be my choice of favourite right now. He played well for us in the Premier League, often keeping us in games that we were by far second best in. As he matures (he’s still only 25) I think he’ll be one of the best British goalkeepers around.
Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Bakary Sako (although he has gone off the boil in the last few weeks). He is deceptively quick, very strong and delivers a wicked cross. He can also shoot with power and accuracy from distance.
Player in our squad you most fear and why? Chris Wood because of his goal scoring record since joining you.
Up and coming prospect in your squad? Danny Batth is highly rated but hasn’t had much of a chance in the first team, with Roger Johnson suspended he could start on Thursday.
Where do you think you’ll finish this season? Bottom half of the table but current form and results could genuinely result in relegation.
How do you think you’ll do against us? I can’t see anything but a defeat and possibly a heavy one at that.
Any other comments? We’re very much a club that’s lost it’s way right now. The squad needs a massive shake-up and revamp. Dean Saunders has a big job on his hands.

A bit about you:
Name: Andrew Clews
Current home town: York Birthplace: Walsall
How long have you supported your team? Since 1975 as a 4 year old. Mainly went through the 80’s and became a “when I can Fan” when work, babies and home location made it difficult. Been back as a regular for the last 6 or 7 years since my lad got the bug.
Overview of your club:
Favourite thing about your home ground: The hair still stands up on my neck when I see the pitch. After many years as a building site, it is a stadium to be proud of while still being on the same site as ever – not sure I would feel the same about a new one built on a car park outside Stafford!
Favourite match played by your team & why: New Years Day 1990 – Newcastle 1-4 Wolves. Bully Hat Trick. Total football!
Favourite player of all time who played for your club: John Richards – Honestly believed he could walk on water if he wanted to. (Very) Honourable mentions to Kenny Hibbitt & Steve Bull
About our forthcoming match against you:
Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Kevin Foley – been messed around like mad but still shows signs of class. Having a tough time at the moment, but then who isn’t at our place?
Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Bakery Sako. Now (apparently) SEB is off to Palace he is the only other goal scorer we have. Shot like a Howitzer. Gets to the bye line on delivers real quality crosses. Not to anyone since we only have two 5ft strikers, but quality nonetheless.
Player in our squad you most fear and why? We always struggle at the back against either pace or a proper forward willing to put themselves about. Also struggle against anyone who formerly played for us or the Albion. Chris Wood then….or get on him and Nugent for a Yankee Double!
Up and coming prospect in your squad? Jake Cassidy. If we have sold SEB by Thursday he should play (please Lord not Doyle on his own again!) Big lad and keen who has been putting the ball in the net on loan. Any other club would give him a fair run, but we have always been really bad at giving our own a fair shot
Where do you think you’ll finish this season? Anything from 21 upwards would be a result at this point.
How do you think you’ll do against us? Keep the ball off you, make you wonder how we are in this mess for the first hour and then capitulate from the middle of the 2nd half. Don’t be shocked if we take the lead. Do be if we keep it……
Any other comments? Always saw Leicester as a bit of a yardstick for us – a club from a similar sized City that we have historically been “bigger” than. Lately you have become the yardstick for “why are they doing that/signing that player and not us?” Our season would have been massively different if we had a left back and someone for our 6 (yes 6!) wingers to aim at. Why we were never in the frame for the likes of De Laet, Konchesky, Wood, Nugent I will never know. Up the Wolves!
