Oppos View – Derby

A bit about you:

Name: Jim Wheeler

Current home town:  Coalville      Birthplace: Coventry(!)

How long have you supported your team? Since birth (more than 40 years…)

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground:  The view – no pillars, well  designed stadium.

Favourite match played by your team & why: Derby County 4 – 1 Nottingham Forest Nov 24, 1979. Totally unexpected, total  annihilation of Forest. Winning with 10 men was pretty good too!

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Bobby Davison

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Will Hughes is looking like a real find – the only concern is how long we can hang onto him now. At times Hughes is reminiscent of Stefano Eranio at his  best.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Jamie Ward is probably our most dangerous attacking force at present – but he's injured and unlikely to play on Saturday. Amazingly Theo Robinson seems to have started scoring, so you'll need  to put all you defence onto him 😉

Player in our squad you most fear and why? David Nugent – he should have signed for us when he had chance!

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Will Hughes (see above) & hopefully Mason Bennett will come through over the next  couple of years.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? We have a very small squad, so it will depend largely on who we can keep fit and if the Board ever allow Nigel to bring in players (e.g. a goalscorer) and hang on to the players we've got. Things are going well at present, but I’ll still be pleased if we manage top 10. Constant improvement is  the club mantra, so above 14th would be progress.

How do you think you’ll do against us? After the last couple of years  we want to keep the score down! I'm sure Nigel would be happy with a point.
