End of Season Review – Part Four

Mike King’s views feature today in the fourth of our series of articles where we have asked our match reporting team to give an end of season report and then have an early look forward to next season.

What was your highlight of the season

Beating Norwich away in the FA Cup

What was your biggest disappointment

Not getting automatic promotion or into the Play-Offs

City started as one of the favourites for Promotion, yet failed to make the Play Off’s, what do you feel were the main reasons for this?

Many pre-season (panic) buys (some were only average players), big squad, Sven removed too early, Pearson not capable of picking correct team for certain key games and too many fall-outs with key players.

Kasper Schmeichel won all the official player of the season awards, would he have been your choice and who else impressed you this season

Yes my choice. Nugent, Danns and Morgan

Which of the players failed to live up to your expectations? – Beckford, Peltier, King, Mills

Off the pitch, the financial accounts up to May 2011 revealed significant losses, that wages equated to 95% of turnover and with further loans added since, the owners had now loaned the club £53m, what are your thoughts on these figures?

Worrying, if the Owners do not get club to Premiership in next 2 seasons, will they lose interest? Then what?

Season Ticket prices were recently announced for the 2012/13 season and while the Family Stand prices were frozen, the average price increase was 8%, with some areas as high as 15%, what is your reaction to the prices and do you feel attendances will be affected next season

Big over-inflation increase. Buying extra match tickets for games in East Stand very expensive and friends not coming to as many games as previous – fuel, meals, etc make it over £100 for 2 persons. Attendances will fall if not off to a good start next season.

Looking forward to next season, where do you think are the main areas that Nigel Pearson needs to make signings

Creative mid-field (2) and holding mid-fielder, Centre Half (1), Right Back and a 20 goal-a-season Striker.

Name two players that you would like Nigel to sign next season (and believe we have a realistic chance of signing)

Danny Murphy and Andrew Johnson from Fulham

Before having any knowledge of the squad make up, how do you rate our chances of automatic promotion for next season

Under Pearson not very good

With 2 clubs left to be decided by the Play Offs, which 3 clubs do you as the main threat for promotion next season?

Wolves, Cardiff and Bolton

Any other observation you would like to make

Personally doubt if Pearson is the man to obtain promotion, need a better player-management Manager. Buy players now and not days before transfer deadline so team ready at start of season. Worry about owners commitment if promotion not realised next season. If do get to Premiership, how much will the Season Tickets cost then?
