A few opposition viewpoints for our final game of the season, here's part one
A bit about you:
Name: Brian Brookes
Current home town: Leicester
Birthplace: Coventry
How long have you supported your team? 44 years
Overview of your club:
Favourite thing about your home ground: Close proximity to Pie Shop
Favourite match played by your team & why: Leeds –v- VFB Stuttgart 4-1.(1992) We were 3-0 down from the first leg and tickets were easy to come by so I took some Leicester fans with me to show them what European football was like. 4-1 would still normally mean that we were out but the game had to be replayed as Stuttgart played an ineligible player. We won that game 2-1. Man of the Match in the 4-1 win was a certain Gary McAllister – thank-you Leicester.
Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Gordon Strachan
About our forthcoming match against you:
Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Becchio. Constantly working and pops up with those late goals.
Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Snodgrass. If he is on song then he will make the difference
Player in our squad you most fear and why? This is the most difficult question here. Beckford is your best player but he won’t want to score against Leeds as it might upset the fans for when he plays for us next season. Therefore “Frankie” Howard, aka Donkey, if he comes on late and you get a corner.
Up and coming prospect in your squad? Adam Clayton
Where do you think the season went wrong for you this year & why? No commitment from Bates. Not prepared to offer decent contracts to players we needed
What did you think about the appointment of Warnock initially? Wasn’t happy to start off with and now I am very unhappy. Was ok with Simon Grayson. (Used to be my neighbour when we both lived in Whetstone and he gave me tickets for the Leicester –v-Derby play-off Final)
What do you think about it now? Let’s see what happens next year
How well do you think you'll do next season? Play-offs at best
How do you think you’ll do against us? Both teams seem to have packed up and gone on their holidays so don’t expect a classic. We’ve tried to stop Leicester fans by charging them £37 (a week’s wages for most Leicester fans). So I expect it to be 0-0 (get your money on now).
Any other comments? Normally the match I would not miss but my son (also a Leicester based Leeds fan) says that as Leeds players have packed in for the season so we should as well.
