A bit about you:
Name: Adam Willerton
Current home town: Sheffield
Birthplace: Doncaster
How long have you supported your team? Since I was a young boy. I’ve been going to Elland Road since I was about 3 or 4 with my parents
Overview of your club:
Favourite thing about your home ground: It’s very… “authentic”, shall we say? If you’ve ever visited Elland Road you’ll know that it needs a lot of work done to it, but it does feel like one of the last big traditional stadiums left which really adds to the atmosphere
Favourite match played by your team & why: Personally, the 1-0 win against Man U when we were in League One in 2010. It’s obviously a big one for all Leeds fans, but for me it was huge. I was 21 years old and had to watch our decline throughout my teenage years. That team with Beckford, Becchio, Snodgrass et al. was the first likeable team for a good few years and the one I was really able to connect with properly, so watching them go to Old Trafford as complete underdogs and embarrass them in the way they did was amazing.
Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Lucas Radebe or Luciano Becchio (both for very different reasons…)
About our forthcoming match against you:
Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Georginio Rutter. He joined us in January for a hefty price, supposedly as the solution to our striker problem. He came into an environment that he was never going to be able to thrive in though, and as our inevitable slip down to the Championship came, his signing became a point of frustration for a lot of Leeds fans. This season though, he’s really been able to show fans why he’s here. He’s head and shoulders above most players in the Championship, the best playmaker we’ve had since Pablo Hernandez and such an exciting prospect. On top of that, he’s such a loveable character!
Player in your squad we should most fear and why? At the moment, Crysencio Summerville. Another young player who is clearly Premier League quality, and who can’t stop scoring at the minute.
Player in our squad you most fear and why? That’s a tough one, as Leicester have a lot of quality all the way through the squad. I can see it being a bit of a ding dong, and if the game gets stretched I’d be very wary of your attacking players, but Harry Winks has obviously been excellent this season.
Up and coming prospect in your squad? Archie Gray. He’s 17 years old, has played in midfield and right back this season, and is arguably first choice in both those positions. Another player who is clearly destined for big things.
Where do you think you’ll finish this season? I’d like to think we’re capable of 2nd. I don’t think anyone think we’ll catch Leicester after the start you’ve had, so we really need Ipswich to start losing some games…
How do you think you’ll do against us? Honestly, nothing would surprise me in this game. We’ve had a pretty decent start and are starting to find our rhythm, but there’s no doubt that this will be the toughest game of the season for us. I’ll go for an optimistic 2-2.
