The Trust AGM commenced with a talk from John Rudkin about the work carried out in the LCFC Academy, which was enlightening for all those present. The Trust website will feature an in depth interview with John Rudkin soon.
11yo Jack Patrick then talked about what it meant to support LCFC and his expectations for the future. (see Jack's full speech below)
The Trust election results for the Trust Board were announced with Paula Aldred & Ian Guyler re-elected to the Trust Board. Additionally Matt Davis who was previously a co-opted board member was also elected, no other candidates stood.
The Trust Board will seek to co-opt further board members in the months ahead, so any Trust member who is interested in getting more involved should contact Chairman Ian Bason.
Following the formal AGM processes a diary of events surrounding the takeover of LCFC was presented and an extended version will feature in a member’s newsletter to be published during March.
The Trust board also took the opportunity to gather member’s views on the future direction of the Trust and will take those thoughts into the next Trust board meeting……
"HELLO EVERYONE. MY NAME IS JACK PATRICK. I’M GOING TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE MIGHTY LEICESTER CITY.
MY GREAT-GRANDAD, TEDDY KING, PLAYED FOR BOTH FOSSE AND CITY. HE WAS THE FIRST PLAYER TO SCORE AN OWN GOAL FOR CITY, AND ALSO THE FIRST PLAYER TO GET SENT OFF!
I HAVE EXPERIENCED GOOD TIMES AND BAD TIMES WATCHING LEICESTER CITY.
THE WORST TIME WAS WHEN WE WERE WINNING 3-0 AT WOLVES. AT HALF TIME, BECAUSE WE THOUGHT WE HAD WON THE GAME, WE WERE SINGING LOTS OF SONGS AND SHOUTING ABUSE AT THE WOLVES FANS. THEN WOLVES SCORED FOUR GOALS AND WE LOST 4-3. MY DAD WAS CRYING!
ONE OF THE BEST TIMES WAS WHEN WE WERE LOSING 2-0 AT HOME TO SPURS IN THE FA CUP 3RD ROUND. AT THE TIME SPURS WERE 4TH IN THE PREMIERSHIP, AND LEICESTER WERE IN THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP. LEICESTER THEN SCORED 3 GREAT GOALS AND WE DANCED ALL THE WAY HOME.
LEICESTER CITY WERE FORMED IN 1884.
WE HAVE BEEN IN 4 FA CUP FINALS – AND LOST THEM ALL.
WE HAVE BEEN IN 5 LEAGUE CUP FINALS – WE WON 3 AND LOST 2
WE HAVE PLAYED IN EUROPE 3 TIMES.
WE HAVE WON THE 2ND DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP 5 TIMES.
OUR BIGGEST ATTENDANCE WAS 47,298 AGAINST SPURS IN 1928
THE OTHER WEEK WE PLAYED LOCAL RIVALS COVENTRY CITY. IT WAS THE FIRST GAME UNDER NEW OWNER MULTI-MULTI-MULTI-MILLIONAIRE MILAN MANDARIC. THE BLUES THRASHED COVENTRY 3-0. IT WAS SO EASY!
ON SATURDAY WE ALMOST BEAT WEST BROM, WHO ARE TOP OF THE TABLE.
THIS SEASON, WE WILL JUST GET INTO THE PLAY-OFFS.
WE WILL PLAY DERBY COUNTY IN THE PLAY OFF FINAL AT CARDIFF, AND WE WILL WIN 5-1
IN 2008 WE WILL WIN THE PREMIERSHIP AND THE FA CUP DOUBLE
IN 2009, WE WILL BEAT BARCELONA IN THE FINAL OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, HAVING ALREADY WON THE LEAGUE CUP, THE FA CUP AND THE PREMIERSHIP.
BECAUSE
WE ARE THE GREATEST TEAM THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN!"
