View from the Opposition – Manchester United

A bit about you:

Name: Andrew

Current home town: Leicester

Birthplace: Leicester

How long have you supported your team? Around 45 years

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: When the players walk out on the side of the Stretford End. Supporters don’t realise, home teams usually walk out on the right-hand side of the tunnel.

Favourite match played by your team & why: 1968 European Cup Final beating Benfica 4 – 1 in extra time at Wembley. George Best was a legend born on the world stage.

Favourite player of all time who played for your club:  George Best, closely followed by Duncan Edwards and Steve Coppell.

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why?  Sanchez and Shaw, hoping both get to show their superb natural ability this season, causing a few jaws to drop.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Fred, he has shown some world class moves in pre-season, just hope he is fit enough for 90 minutes.

Player in our squad you most fear and why? Maddison, he is the unknown factor, City will need, but no one knows if he will deliver in the premier league.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Angel Gomes – This kid will be at the next world cup.

How do you think you’ll do against us? As always after a world cup, the first few games of every season are extended pre-season fitness games. The team that has transitioned the best, generally comes out on top.

General Questions:

What did you think to the summer transfer activity both in and out of your club?  Should have done a lot better, the stature of Utd demands that on the world arena. I believe the Utd board are saying that players have been bought and not played enough, so how can trust be given blindly for more. We signed a very good quality midfielder in Fred, a youngster and a third-choice goal keeper. I really hope beyond all hope we only re-signed Fellaini just to sell, come the January sales.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season?  2nd again

Who do you think will win the league? Noisy neighbours (cough) again

Which three teams do you think will get relegated from the Premiership? Newcastle, Bournemouth, Southampton, this stage of the season, it’s only judgement through signings on top of last season’s finishes, that provide any coherent debate. All that can change when manager's start to be sacked.

Any other comments? 3rd season syndrome? let’s see come the reverse fixture.
