View from the opposition – Aston Villa
A bit about you:
Name: Andy Collins
Current home town: Leicester
Birthplace: Leicester
How long have you supported your team? 40 years
Overview of your club:
Favourite thing about your home ground: The Holte End, such an impressive stand
Favourite match played by your team & why: Beating Bayern Munich 1-0 to win the 1982 European Cup – Villa Champions of Europe
Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Brian Little. His attacking displays were the reason I became a Villa fan
About our forthcoming match against you:
Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Brad Guzan – as the keeper is usually our busiest player, he tends to stand out
Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Jordan Ayew is beginning to show a bit of form. He's quick and has an eye for goal.
Player in our squad you most fear and why? Jamie Vardy – his goal scoring record
Up and coming prospect in your squad? Adama Traore signed from Barcelona (who insisted on a buy back clause). He is quick – but currently injured!
How do you think you'll do against us? Villa are bottom but may be a bit more relaxed after the long waited for win (over Palace). City are joint top, so the pressure will be on them. Everyone will expect a City win – so we could scrape a score draw.
General Questions:
Who do you think you will sign in the transfer window & who do you think will leave? Cole has been moved on and the likes of Senderos and N'Zogbia are trying to be moved on – but someone has to want them. As for 'ins', who would want to join the bottom team 8 points from safety? Looks like Lamine Sane on loan from Bordeaux will be Garde's first signing. But he's a defender, and most of the problems are at the other end of the pitch.
Where do you think you'll finish this season? At the start of the season I thought mid-table. Now it's bottom and Championship here we come.
What do you think has gone wrong for Villa this season? Villa have struggled over the last 3 to 4 seasons, but there have always been 3 worse teams to finish below them. Sherwood's tactics (or lack of), the quality of some of the new signings, a squad with no confidence, the protracted Lerner sale of the club – have all culminated to this season
Which three teams do you think will go down? At the start of the season I went for Watford, Bournemouth & Sunderland. Now I'd say Villa, Sunderland & Swansea
Who do you think will win the league? Manchester City
