Apparently, this is the last ever match report for the Foxes Trust, due to the small number of reporters now involved; hopefully members have found them useful.
I wanted to go to Bournemouth, partly to see Leicester play in the Premier League for who knows how long, and partly because my sister and I spent a couple of days there to enjoy the seaside, denied to those of us who live so far from the coast. So far as the club’s future is concerned, I for one have little confidence that they will return to the ‘promised land’ any time soon and this game did nothing to dispel that view.
The team showed that both Ndidi and El Khannouss were missing, later confirmed as illness for Ndidi and ‘personal reasons’ for El Khannouss (signing for another club?).
As befitting an end of season game, the match was extremely lack-lustre and there was very little to get excited about. City did have the ball in the net halfway through the first half but it was clearly offside.
Stolarczyk made some impressive saves and frankly kept Leicester in the game until the second half when the lively Semenyo scored twice. Bournemouth were clearly the better side, but nothing that explained to me how they managed to finish 9th in the table!
City had three shots on target according to reports, but I cannot remember any of them. So, the game – and the season – limped to an end, an eminently forgettable display.
Most of the team played OK without achieving much, but the one exception was the anonymous Daka, who did nothing to make up for the loss of the club’s ‘Goat’; although I want him to do well, he seems a lost soul who didn’t have a clue.
On the bright side, the two youngsters who we have already seen, Monga and Evans, were joined by another, Aluko, who looked bright and lively in his cameo appearance.
There was some good news inasmuch as the predators circling round Monga appear to have been seen off for now; surely someone will show him that if he goes to one of the so-called big six clubs, he will be warming the bench – the example of KDH should be a good wake-up call.
I had hoped that our days of being a yo-yo club were behind us, but sadly this is not the case. But at least we might win a few more games in the Championship.
