Oppos View – Forest Part 1

View from the opposition Part One – Nottingham Forest Monday 29 November 2010

A bit about you:

Name:  Andrew Tongue

Current home town:  Loughborough

Birthplace: Loughborough

How long have you supported your team?  17 Years

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: It’s not a generic concrete and plastic bowl, like the characterless grounds such as St Mary’s, The Sh**p Dip (Pride Park) & the Crisp Bowl

Favourite match played by your team & why: Forest 5-1 Le*cester, 05/12/09. For obvious reasons! Any win against a team who thinks that they are our main local rivals will always put a smile on my face. However, that afternoon, we just looked a FAR better team! The whole team, from back to front showed superb attitude, passing and finishing. Forest could have had far more than the 5 they got and we completely outplayed Le*cester. (Although suitable revenge was handed out later last season!).

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Only one answer for any Forest fan who has had witnessed this man play – Stuart Pearce….

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why?  Lewis McGugan – need I say any more? This lad had a bad season last season, with Billy Davies saying he was overweight and needed to work on his fitness. He’s come back this season and truly shown what he’s capable of. It has been asked, round the City Ground, if he’ll ever score a “normal” goal, as he seems to specialise in the spectacular! (You’ve seen the 30 yarder, from a dead ball, against Ipswich).

Player in your squad we should most fear and why?  Lewis McGugan. He has been a revelation since he has come back into the squad and your defence would probably be best stopping him at about 40yards+, because he doesn’t seem to be afraid to have a go from any distance, or any place on the pitch!

Player in our squad you most fear and why?  Andy King – to be honest he’s the only player of yours that makes any headlines. All I know of him, is that he’s a decent midfield player and he’s scored a few goals this season (Which is more than can be said of your strikers!)

Up and coming prospect in your squad?  Radoslaw Majewski – Polish international midfielder, signed a permanent deal over the summer and just keeps on improving. Affectionately known by some of our fans as “The Plumber” this tricky little midfielder, pulls the strings in the heart of our midfield – passing ability of a veteran midfielder and a sweet strike to go with it (no better proof than his 25 yarder against the Sh**p and his volley against West Brom, last season) and he’s still only twenty four….

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? On current form, a top six finish looks achievable, but there’s no chance of us gate-crashing the top two. Taking a look at last season, a top six finish is a must – however, if our chairman put his hand in his pocket and Billy gets the players he wants in January, I feel we could challenge the top two

How do you think you’ll do against us? As with all local derbies, form goes out the window! I think it’ll be a tough one to call, with a score draw looking the most likely outcome. Based on our current away form, I’ll go for a hard fought 0-0.

A second Forest fan viewpoint will appear tomorrow
