Oppos View – Cardiff 2nd Leg

A bit about you:

Name: Lee Davies

Current home town: Caerphilly

Birthplace: Newport

How long have you supported your team? 15 years

Views on the First Leg:

What were you hoping for prior to the game? A one goal lead or even a draw, with 15 mins to go I would have taken 0-0.

Did both teams line up tactically as you thought? I was a bit surprised Leicester played with a lone striker in Waghorn, being at home I thought they would have gone for it a bit more to try and get a lead and a slight advantage.

What were your thoughts at half time about how the game was going? I thought it was a pretty even game, not really that many clear cut chances and the goal keeper’s weren’t really worked…..

Given his scoring record this season, were you surprised when Leicester didn’t put a wall in front of Whittingham prior to the winner? Slightly, he’s got a wand of a left foot as the keeper now knows, everyone around me was saying he would have a crack so I was a little surprised you didn’t put a man in front of the ball.

The overall stats for the game indicate it was a fairly even game, is that how you saw it? I thought it was pretty even, both had chances second half, Fryatt and McCormack both being guilty of missing easy ones.

Who did you make as your man of the match for Cardiff? Mark Hudson our centre half.

Did any Leicester’s players display impress you? The two centre backs, Hobbs and Bruce were fairly decent and kept Bothroyd and Chopra pretty quiet.

About the Second Leg:

As both managers talked about it only being half time in the tie, given the 1 -0 advantage, how confident are you of Cardiff going to Wembley? I’m not saying anything.

Do you expect Cardiff to name an unchanged side? Yes.

Most Cardiff fans we have spoken to have identified Steve Howard as the biggest threat, are you worried now he is available for the second leg? Not worried no, if we score first in the 2nd leg then you will have to throw caution to the wind which for us at home is deadly as we are pretty good counter attacking teams.

And over the two legs, what do you think the aggregate score will be? Put it this way, not the score everybody was predicting on BBC Radio Leicester Sunday – they obviously hadn’t seen Cardiff City this season!

Looking Ahead:

With Blackpool taking a single goal lead to the away leg, which club do you now think the winner of our tie will face at Wembley? Nottingham Forest – Blackpool won’t know what’s hit them at the City Ground.

If you get promoted, how do you think you would do in the Premiership? Finish in the bottom 3.

If you don’t get promoted, what do you think the consequences will be for your club? I think we would have to sell 2 or 3 but with new investment coming into the club it’s nothing new for us to sell every summer and still compete at the top end of the Championship.
