Oppos Views – Mk Dons – Part Two

View from the opposition – MK Dons 28th February 2009:

Continuing the build up to this weekend’s eagerly anticipated clash of the top two clubs, we have gathered the views of two MK Dons fans, today it’s the views of…

A bit about you:

Name: Lisa Crane

Current home town:  Milton Keynes      Birthplace: Walthamstow, London

How long have you supported your team?  Since they moved to MK as Wimbledon

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: The uninterrupted view, no pillars to look around and you can even grab a pie whilst still keeping an eye on the match!  Lots I don't like about it, but on the whole it is brilliant.

Favourite match played by your team & why: This is a tricky one as I have about four which are really hard to distinguish between.  I guess, for the whole experience from waking up to (finally!) going to sleep, it would have to be the JPT Final at Wembley last season.  Was, without a doubt, one of the proudest days ever.  To see your team lift the cup, to look around at the fans who were just so happy.  Has been a rollercoaster one way and another over the last few years and that game just really showed me how far we had come….

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: I could be controversial and say Vinnie Jones 😉 but I will toe the party line!  Mine was, is, will be, no question Dean Lewington.  Can't see that ever changing in my lifetime to be honest!

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Dean Lewington – just because!  To be honest he is often talked about as an 'MK Legend' and I can understand why.  He has been with the team since the beginning and consistently gives 100% effort.  Not just on the pitch but also off the pitch when talking to fans and attending events for fans.  A real star in my eyes.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Sammy Baldock when he is on form.  Is a local lad and has really developed this season.  Seems to get quicker and quicker and is learning all the time – look out Leicester defence!

Player in our squad you most fear and why?  Dyer?  Only joking!   I don't think any team should every fear a player to be honest and we should always be prepared to close anyone down, but a regular goal scorer is always going to strike a bit of fear amongst the opposition fans so I will go for the obvious – Matty Fryatt.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? I will say Adam Chicksen, very quick and with some experience under his belt wouldn't be surprised to see him as a regular first teamer in the next couple of years.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season?  If you had said to me at the start of the season we would be where we are today I would have probably laughed.  I am immensely proud of what the lads have achieved so far.  At the moment I don't really see anyone catching you so I would take second in a heartbeat!  At the start of the season I predicted (optimistically) that we would finish in a play off place and I would still be happy with that.  As long as we don't throw automatic away on the last day of the season or something silly like that!

How do you think you’ll do against us?  Win of course!  On our day and when we get a little luck, our team can beat anyone in this league.  I never predict a loss, so I will go for 2 -1, with Dean Lewington to score first goal (all MK Fans have permission to groan at this point as it is a bit of a standing joke with me!)

Any other comments? Best home fans of the season?  Best home fans I have ever seen?  Your lot on the first day of the season this year.  Was an amazing experience to be in that away end with your drummer and singers right next to us.  Definitely a model we should be working towards at stadium:mk.  Reckon we should franchise it actually 😉  Looking forward to hearing the noise you are going to make at our place and seeing whether we can out-sing you this time!
