Oppos Views – MK Dons (Part One)

View from the opposition – MK Dons 28th February 2009:

In the build up to this weekend’s eagerly anticipated clash of the top two clubs, we get the views of two MK Dons fans, starting today with…

A bit about you:

Name: Roger Widdecombe

Current home town:  Milton Keynes      Birthplace: Stoke Newington, North London

How long have you supported your team?  Since the Dons moved to Milton Keynes.

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: Fantastic Stadium, comfy seats, sitting in the Cowshed' home stand with friends.

Favourite match played by your team & why: Tranmere game 3 seasons ago when we had to win and stay up.  Gareth Edds scored the winner towards the end of the match just after they had announced he was Man of the Match and the Dons stayed up in League 1 and complete pandemomium after the game!

I would also like to add, that last season when the Dons went to Wembley and won the Paint Pot' aka the Johnstone's Paint Trophy that was a Fab day out and also when the Dons nabbed the Title of Champs at Bradford last season and we all ended up having a 'Street Party' there – Fantastic Fun!

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: I was going to say the 'Legend Gareth Edds' but our Fantabulous Goalie Willy Gueret is hot on his heels!

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Willy Gueret Goalie has got to be the Best in League 1 right now, but Luke Chadwick our signing from Norwich is Awesome as is Jason Puncheon back to the Dons on loan from Plymouth.  (Sorry, its hard to pick out just the one ha ha!)

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Luke Chadwick, the loan player from Norwich that we have signed is Amazing when he plays well and you can see he has played at a much higher level (He was at Man Utd!) and his vision, distribution and pace is really good and just coming back from injury should be fully match fit by the time we play you.

Player in our squad you most fear and why? My former Fav player was Lloyd Dyer – was gutted when he got snapped up by the Foxes.  He was Fab for us last season and has been very good for you I understand – was disappointed that a few Dons fans booed him but a lot of us also gave him a good clap at the Walkers Stadium.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Super Sammy' Baldock is a Big Fav' for Dons fans at the moment as he is a local lad and has made it through in to the first team now.  He has fantastic pace and on his day, is deadly up front!

Where do you think you’ll finish this season?  A lot of Dons fans would have settled for a Top Ten finish at the start of the season but I thought we were good enough to challenge for the Play Offs.  I would be V Disappointed now if we didn't at least make the Play Offs but as that can be a bit of a lottery' would much prefer we got Auto' promotion to the Championship which would be absolutely wonderful!

How do you think you’ll do against us?  Dons were quite poor when we played up at yours at the beginning of the season and think they got a bit of stage fright' and showed too much respect to the Foxes.  We had seen them play Much Better so were disappointed they didn't turn in a good performance, however, since then we have shown by our rise up the table, that we are a much, much better team than you saw that day!  Only thing I am Gutted about is that I won't be at the match as I have to go to an event for the charity I work for down on the South Coast but will be keeping fingers X'd for a Good result for the Dons although predicting a 2-2 draw!

Any other comments? We have had our usual 'January blip' just recently but played very well at Posh recently, and I expect the Dons to finish at least in the Top 4 and hopefully perhaps in second spot and auto promotion as I expect the Foxes to take the Title!
