Going to Northampton?

Directions

From The South:
Leave the M1 at Junction 15A and take the A43 towards Northampton and you will come to the ground on your right.

From The North:
Leave the M1 at Junction 16 and take the A45 towards Northampton and you will come to the ground on your right.

The Sixfields stadium is well signposted around the area. There is a fair sized car park located at the ground, which costs £2. Make sure though that you arrive early as it has been known for it to get full for the more popular games.  There is parking at the ground (£3.50) but after the game it takes an age to get out of the car parks so its worth delaying your exit until you've had a drink or visited one of the many fast food outlets or restaurants at Sixfields.

Some local "entrepreneurs" also offer cut price parking in a field next to the main car park for away fans but beware –  if it's wet you may need a tractor to drag you out! Unless you have the express permission of the owner and are genuinely using their premises don't park in Sainsbury's, and other car parks belonging to restaurants etc around Sixfields, you may get a ticket or even clamped!….

Pubs

A few pubs/bars at Sixfields, TGI Fridays, Sixfields Tavern and the Ten Pin Bowling Place (can't remember what it's called these days!) plus loads of places to eat. All are fairly friendly providing people behave. Also worth trying any of the pubs on the edge of Town as you travel in from Leicester, again no problems providing fans behave and they are likely to be less busy than pubs closer to the ground. If you are looking to take up Wetherspoons current offer of 99p a pint you will need to go into Northampton Town Centre and take a 20/25 minute walk to the ground. The bar at Sixfields Stadium does not admit away fans – it barely has enough room for home fans (plus the drinks are expensive and a limited choice).

By Train
Northampton train station is over two miles from the ground, so it is probably best to hire a taxi. However if you feel like braving the 25-30 minute walk then Phil Spokes provides the following directions; 'Turn right from the station and follow the road past the express lift tower (you can't miss it, a tall tower that was once used for testing lifts), passing the Wickes store on the left. Continue down to the Leisure Centre, turn left down the path beside it and then turn right onto the road. You will see the stadium in the distance in front of you.

From the railway station it is possible to get a bus to take you most of the way to Sixfields stadium. The buses go from the bridge over the railway at the south end of the station. The number 40 and the more frequent 1/1A will get you near to the stadium (around half a mile away).

Trains take approx 1 hour 30 mins but after 7-45 pm the 8-56pm train is the last and takes an extra hour.  Off peak return £15-60
