Calling Leicestershire Charities

Foxes Trust Press Release

The Foxes Trust is delighted that the club has taken up the suggestion of a significant number of City fans that the club should feature a local charity on the front of the away shirt next season.

Following the from allowing the fans to determine the that the front of the home kit will be blank, Trust Board Member Matt Davis commented “We feel the club has made a good start with the 125th anniversary celebrations by involving the fans in making the decisions on what they will be wearing on their chests for next season”

Davis did issue a note of caution “One year kits have never been something that we have favoured, and while we understand the logic with the anniversary, we hope that the pricing levels from day one reflect it is on a one year cycle, rather than pricing high initially only then to increasingly discount as the season progresses”

The deadline for charities to register their interest in being involved is very tight, as all applications have to be with the club within 48 hours of the announcement (by noon on Friday January 30th).

The clubs principal criteria are that the organisation must be:
– An officially registered charity based in the local region
– Work with disadvantaged families and children
– Willing to create a programme that utilises the power of football to assist and benefit disadvantaged people.

The club state they are looking for original ideas that will have a positive effect on the community in which they sit. The Trust has always lobbied for the club to make it’s community related activities more public, so fans are aware of the work that takes place and would like to see first team players involved in community activities to the level that other clubs achieve, with Charlton being a leader in this field.

Any charities who feel they meet the criteria are asked to forward their applications to LCFC Supporter Relations Manager Peter Jones on [email protected]

The organisation selected by a panel of City fans and employees will be announced next week.
