Carlisle United FC – CA1 1LL
As a return to Leicester by public transport after the game isn’t possible and it’s a long drive back, we were pleased to receive the following information from Peter Scholes
Accommodation
“I recently started a CUFC supporter membership scheme designed to encourage local people to take more of an active role in the club and also to build links with other clubs and their fans in our league. In the few months since the scheme has been up and running I have managed to get around 3000 members and I hope this number will rise rapidly as people find out more about it.
In short, the scheme (CUMBRIANS ELITE) encourages supporters to express their opinions on how to improve and work with the club in a positive and constructive way. They also get a membership card which gives discounts and deals on local shops and businesses thus keeping the money in the local community, improving CUFC's reputation and making the club some extra money from areas that would have previously been off their radar.
The scheme is not just there to benefit local supporters but also those of other clubs who come to play in the city. Last month a local independent hotel has started to offer a discount on food and rooms for CUMBRIAN ELITE members but the owner also extended the offer to fans of visiting clubs who wish to make an overnight stay when coming to watch their team.
This deal (see link:http://www.elitefamilygames.com/cumbrianselite/index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category&task=category&id=5 ) can be used by Leicester City fans the night of our game and, between us, we can promote the deal and hopefully others too, for this season and any time we meet in the future. All the fans would have to do is email scholespeter@hotmail.com or contact the manager of the hotel if they wanted to take advantage of the deal. Also, I would be happy to take people from the hotel to the ground for the game if they needed transport – no extra cost for this.
I will be contacting the other clubs in our division and see if we can do different things to help their fans when they visit Cumbria too but with you being one of the first up this season, it would be brilliant if we can offer something for your fans in August.
I should stress that there is no cost whatsoever to the club. It is simply a fans initiative to help people during this difficult time.”

Where to Drink
The Carlisle Rugby Club next to Brunton Park on the Warwick Road, has a club bar which allows in away supporters and is family friendly. Also near to the ground on Warwick Road is the Beehive, which serves a good pint of Theakstons. The pub does employ doormen on matchdays and for certain games away fans may not be allowed entrance. The Howard Arms, which is on Lowther Street just off Warwick Road, towards the Town Centre, down from the White House and the Stoneyholme Golf Club, at the back of the main stand are recommended.
