The latest Your 90 Minutes meeting for women’s matchdays took place on Thursday 18 September 2025, bringing together club staff and supporter representatives to review the matchday experience and discuss opportunities to grow the women’s game.
In attendance from the Club were Imogen Ward (Head of Fan Engagement), Jim Donnelly (Supporter Relations Manager), Connor Middleton (Senior Engagement Executive) and Anna Simmons, a new member of the events team. Fifteen supporters joined the session, including representatives from the Foxes Trust (Matt Davis, Lynn Wyeth and Kate Thompson), the Women’s Supporters Club and Foxes Pride.
Positive Reflections
Supporters praised a number of recent developments, including:
- Brickweave activations – offering plenty for children and families to enjoy before kick-off.
- Mascots walking out with players, which has been warmly received.
- Additional season ticket holder events in the pipeline.
- New signings, who have been welcomed positively by fans.
In addition, the club spoke about
- New half-time entertainment is being trialled e.g. penalty shoot outs with Filbert
- Outreach to grassroots clubs and schools is ongoing and is viewed by the club as vital for engagement. The Trust would like more details about this engagement.
Concerns Raised
There were also some concerns discussed:
- The impact of 12 noon or Friday night kick-offs for Sky, which are already affecting attendances.
- Ticket promotion and communication, including sales of away coaches, seen as insufficient.
- A missed opportunity to capitalise on the Lionesses’ summer success with stronger marketing.
- Ongoing difficulties in obtaining away tickets, often dependent on the host club.
- The need for subsidised away coaches to support travel.
- High catering costs on matchdays.
- Frustration with how the managerial change, just 10 days before the season, was communicated and reported in the media.
Matchday Atmosphere
The use of When You’re Smiling was discussed. While the players enjoy it, some supporters at women’s games are less familiar with the song. Suggestions included displaying the lyrics on the big screen to encourage wider participation. This will be considered further.
Supporter Suggestions
A number of ideas were proposed for future consideration:
- Opening 1884 for breakfast before 12 noon fixtures.
- Holding a meeting with new Director of Women’s Football, Lee Billiard, for season ticket holders and supporter groups.
- Ensuring pre-season friendlies are open to supporters next summer.
Next Steps
Issues around away ticketing, disabled parking and kick-off times will be raised with the FSA Women’s Networkby the club and supporter groups.
Overall, the meeting was viewed as positive, with encouraging progress on matchday experiences and engagement. However, there is still significant work to be done to strengthen communications, address practical challenges, and continue growing the women’s game.
Foxes Trust, Foxes Pride and the Women’s Supporters Club will meet to discuss joint efforts and will then meet with the club.
