The Trust welcomes the announcement today from Leicester City Football Club that it will move forward with plans to install safe standing at the King Power ahead of any future stadium expansion.
The Trust, along with Union FS, has pressed for LCFC to catch up with other Premier League clubs and install safe standing as soon as possible.
Chief Executive, Susan Whelan, said in the announcement,
“The Club and the FAB are aware that such a change has the potential to affect a large number of supporters, the atmosphere in the stadium and the wider matchday experience. With this in mind, we will be conducting a series of wide-reaching consultations and briefings with our supporters, to ensure all match-attending fans have the opportunity to make themselves heard.“
The Trust will now be working with the club, the FAB and other supporters groups to ensure maximum consultation, so that fans can have a say on where safe standing should be put in place.
We’ll also be holding the club to the proposed timetable. It has stated that the evaluation project will be discussed with FAB members at the group’s third meeting of the season on Wednesday 26 February 2025.
The Trust end of season survey showed overwhelming support for safe standing.
