Oppos View – Man City – Part Two

A bit about you:

Name: Dave Jones

Birth Place: Salford, Manchester   Current hometown:Chorley, Lancs

How long have you supported Man City? Since 1962…48 years…far too long!!

Overview of the club… Fair to say that City were perhaps the second favourite club of many other fans reputation for playing good football, in shadow of their neighbours who are generally loathed by other supporters……I kind of liked the fact that my team, on their day could beat anyone…and on same day..lose to anyone…that i think has changed with the influx of money from our Arab benefactors….great to see the progress on the field, contesting at the right end of the table but I don't want us to be regarded by other football fans like Chelsea and United…but perhaps it's inevitable.

Favourite thing about your home ground? It's in Manchester unlike United’s ground…Trafford!!….

Favourite match played by your team and why? Newcastle United away last game of season 1968..had to win game to win league…we won 4-3 playing great football…

Favourite player that has played for your club? Colin Bell….nicknamed Nijinski for his fantastic stamina…outstanding box to box midfielder..England regular…career cut short by a terrible tackle by Martin Buchan of Manchester United….not that I'm at all bitter!!

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Vincent Kompany…consistently plays with passion and pride.characteristics often missing with most modern day foreign imports.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why?    Jo…sorry, must stop drinking!. Obviously Tevez but should he not start, then Adam Johnson ..ability to run at and commit defenders to unwise challenges in the box..strong on both sides.

Up and coming prospect in your squad?   Good chance Dedrik Boyata will play..very promising central defender..cool and quick…..except against Arsenal when he was sent off after 5 mins for a rask tackle…learning curve!!

Where do you think you’ll finish in the League this season?   At present time…third. Ambition was always top 4 and think we're on course. need to win a cup..any cup..to just get that monkey of no trophy for 34 years off our backs

How do you think you’ll do against us?   Think it will be a great game..plenty of atmosphere…Sven and Darius will get a good reception from the Man City fans….a real cup tradition between Leicester and Man City….the 69 FAC Final springs to mind and very poignant that the day will be marked by Man City fans wearing Red and Black in honour of Neil Young, Man City's match winner in 69, who has sadly been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. Puts a lot of things into perspective.

Forecast..3-1 Man City.
