Oppos View – West Brom Part Two

Opposition Viewpoint – West Brom – Tues 26th October 2010 – Carling Cup

A bit about me
Name:  Andy Dredge.

Current home town:  Leicester.
I’ve lived just outside Leicester for 51 years & used to watch the City regularly in the 70`s I even used to work at Filbert Street, but my allegiance lies with my birth town, West Bromwich.

Birthplace:  Sedgley, about 3 miles from West Bromwich.

How long have you supported your team:  I’ve followed the Albion since 1967, when I was 10, but always from a distance as we moved to Kirby Muxloe in 1959.

Overview of your club

Favourite thing about the ground:
For me it’s the fact we still play on the land we moved to over 100 years ago, we’ve done a pretty good job upgrading what was there……

Favourite match played by your team & why:  I would have to say the match against Man. Utd. on the 30th December 1978, temperatures below freezing but the fans were warmed by a 5-3 win. Beating United has always got to be good, but with the likes of Cyrille Regis, Laurie Cunningham, Bryan Robson & Tony Brown in your side, what more can you say?

Favourite player for the club:  This has to be Tony "Bomber" Brown, strong skillful, good bit of pace & a vicious shot.

About the forthcoming match:

Favourite current player:  I would say Jonas Ollson, a good strong no-nonsense centre back, I used to play fullback & would have loved him in the side.

The player to fear in our squad:  Peter Odemwingie puts the fear of god into any team, blistering pace, good footballing brain & knows where the goal is.

Player to fear in your squad:  I’d say Martin Waghorn, if he can find last seasons form, a good old fashioned forward, tough & bustling.

Up & coming prospect:  If we can keep hold of him Graham Dorrans.

Where will we finish in the league:  I feel that the way we’ve started we could finish mid-table, but 17th would be fine.

How will we do against Leicester:  With the new players Sven has brought in the City will be a different side to the start of the season, but I feel 2-1 or 3-1 to the Albion would be about right.
