Oppos View – Bristol City

A bit about you:

Name:  Ian Williams

Current home town: Oxford

Birthplace:      Bristol (of course)

How long have you supported your team?  Since 1981 just as we had left the top division and were on our slide through three successive relegations: it could only get better from there I thought on a cold night in Northampton where we lost 7-1, finished with nine men and were 92nd in the football league!!

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground:  History, and the fact it feels like my 2nd home

Favourite match played by your team & why:  Ironically it was against Leicester back in 1992 when we came up to Filbert Street and beat you 2-1(?) or was it 2-0(?) in the FA cup, Jackie Dziekanowski and Junior Bent scored in a game where we were huge underdogs and it was all on Match of the Day for when we got home…..

Favourite player of all time who played for your club:   Has to be Alan Walsh for me: 99 goals over many years

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why?  Paul Hartley, brings a touch of class to the team

Player in your squad we should most fear and why?  Danny Haynes for his pace, Cole Skuse because he just gets better and better – see the goal he scored against you last time!

Player in our squad you most fear and why?  Matt Fryatt because he always seems to score against us regardless of who he's playing for (written before Matty’s injury)

Up and coming prospect in your squad?  Don't know because Gary Johnson never plays academy players, he just loans them out

Where do you think you’ll finish this season?  Just above the relegation places unless we find our spark again

How do you think you’ll do against us?  Because I'm permanently convinced we will find our spark again, I think we'll nick it in a low scoring game, maybe 1-0? If it's that score with 10 minutes to go, I'm sure I won't be the only person on the edge of my seat waiting for the inevitable late equaliser…..
