Oppos View – Doncaster

View from the opposition – Doncaster Rovers 28 December 2009

A bit about you:

Name:                       Martin O'Hara

Current home town:    Doncaster

Birthplace:                  Doncaster

How long have you supported your team? Since I was about 8 years of age, which means about 40+ years!!

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: Well its a very new ground, its quite soulless as most new grounds are but compared to the old Belle Vue its an absolute treasure. I particularly enjoy the walk around the lake after visiting the pub, and as we get closer to the ground the excitement and anticipation grows. On a good day with the sun shining its unbeatable…..

Favourite match played by your team & why:    Over the years there has been quite a few, but the two I will always remember would be beating Dagenham & Redbridge at the Britannia Stadium in Stoke at the end of the 2002-03 season to get back into the football league and then beating Leeds Utd in a Lg1 play off at Wembley in 2008 to get promoted to the Championship.

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Alick Jeffrey – England U21 International but destined for much greater things until breaking both his legs. As a young kid I saw him make his comeback and he still turned on the style.

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Brian Stock – a diamond in the pack! He's been picked by Wales on a few occasions but is mostly overlooked by most premiership sides which is good for us. His range of passing and ball control is a joy.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why?  At the moment Billy Sharpe. Currently on loan from Sheff Utd where he couldn't score goals but with us he's been knocking them in.

Player in our squad you most fear and why?  Richie Wellens- he should never have left us as he formed an incredible partnership with Brian Stock. We understand why he left and he'll be welcomed back.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Hmm, interesting! They can all play a bit but on his day Jamie Coppinger.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? We'll be comfortable by the end of the season, happily ensconced in a mid table position.

How do you think you’ll do against us? Normally I would say very well, we can play a bit but with Richie passing on the advice no doubt you'll have all the secrets. If you try and play us at football you may come unstuck, but on the day a 1-1 draw. You have surprised me a little this season with some of your results so lets hope your luck runs out.
