Oppos Viewpoint – Swansea

A bit about you:

Name: Robert Roberts (I¹m so good my mother named me twice!)

Current home town: Nottingham

Birthplace: Swansea

How long have you supported your team? Since 3rd March 1978. My dad took me, as a 10 year old, to watch John Toshack¹s first home game in charge against Watford. The old Division 4. Graham Taylor was the Watford Manager and Elton John was still their Chairman. It was a 3 – 3 draw and both teams were promoted that year and the following year. Swansea were promoted the year after that too in a straight run to the old Division 1. We didn¹t stay there long though.

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: Always a good buzz on match day and you can get to see some real legends arriving if you hang around the VIP entrance before kick-off. Bobby Charlton was one of my best spots.

Favourite match played by your team & why: Three weeks ago in Anfield. It’s been an awful season and beating Liverpool 2 – 3 in Anfield was like a cup final win.

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: John Toshack. He was my idol as a kid and was the reason I begun supporting Swansea. God forbid if it wasn¹t for him who knows I could have become a bluebird!

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Gylfi Sigurdsson. He’s been our saviour and he’s staying loyal to the club. I think he could become a club legend.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Gylfi of course and Fernando Llorente. He’s a danger in front of goal

Player in our squad you most fear and why? The change in form since last season makes it difficult to pick a name but this week’s FA Cup win against Derby will give you a boost. Demarai Gray looks to have potential. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Vardy and Mahrez return to haunt us.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Olly McBurnie. He’s scoring for fun for the Under 23’s and has started to break into the first team. I think he’ll be class.

Where do you think you¹ll finish this season? I’ll take anything from 17th upwards after the mistake we made in appointing the useless Yank. Without Clueless Bob I think we’d have had a pretty decent season and would have been around 12th and I think the squad are at about that kind of level but we’ll be 15th at best.

How do you think you¹ll do against us? If you had’nt had the FA Cup win against Derby this week I’d have had us down as a banker but now you may be on the bounce back. I still think we’ll do it though because there is so much on it. I’m going 3 – 0 to us! Sorry!

General Questions:

What did you think of the recent transfer window activity both in and out of your club? Pretty decent. Tom Carrol is a good boy. Was with us on loan a few years ago and great to have him back on a permanent contract. We still need a replacement for Ashley but we’re gonna have to wait a little longer for that.

Which three teams do you think will go down? Hull, Sunderland & I think Bournmouth’s bubble has burst. Hate to say it but you boys need to buck your ideas up (after Sunday) or it may be curtains!

Who do you think will win the league? Chelsea. I had the at 5-1 J

Any other comments? I hope you guys survive, win the FA Cup and Champions League and I wish we’d never been the first Premiership team to employ a Yanky Manager.
