Oppos Views – Stevenage Part 2

A bit about you:

Name:   Lloyd Briscoe

Current home town:  Stevenage               Birthplace:   Ramsgate

How long have you supported your team?  Ever since its formation back in 1976. Also followed the predecessor clubs, Stevenage Athletic and Stevenage Town.

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: Broadhall Way is a great football ground. It’s easy to get to, lots of free car parking close by, all four sides are covered, and everyone gets a superb view of the game

Favourite match played by your team & why: When we met Newcastle United in Round 4 of the FA Cup back in 1998. The whole world was watching that game. Stevenage were the underdogs, and the support coming from outside the town was absolutely incredible…

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: There are many, including Martin Gittings, Des Gallagher, Mark Smith, Robin Trott, Carl Alford, Efetobor Sodje, to name but a few..  However, Alan Julian goes down as one of my all time favourites – he’s a real nice bloke..!

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why?  Peter Vincenti. A young man who I much admired last season, – and pulled off the goal of the century last week at Woking. Definitely one to watch for the futire.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Steve Morison. He’s just a goal machine…

Player in our squad you most fear and why? Matt Fryatt. A young man who seems to know where the goal is. I think City did well to capture him from Walsall, – and can see him being part of Leicester’s revival to the Championship.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? The squad has “changed” several times in the last 14 months or so, and is just coming together at the right time. I would suggest that the likes of Michael Bostwick, Peter Vincenti, and Daryl McMahon may well go on to bigger and better things after Stevenage…

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? I honestly think we’ll finish in the play-off positions, – and get promoted to League 2 in a play-off final at Wembley

How do you think you’ll do against us?  Stevenage will ‘scare’ Leicester for sure. However, I suspect the Foxes will edge the difference by a single goal. What I am sure of is that both clubs, – and their supporters, will conclude the contest with the utmost respect for each other,

Any other comments? Does Leicester have to play that hunting call tune as a prelude to each game? Can’t they play Jeff Beck or something, like everyone else ? ? ?
