If you plan to get your first sight of Leicester City under Nigel Pearson’s management, here is how to get to the game

Travelling to Hinckley

Leave the M69 at junction 1 and head north on the A5, signposted Nuneaton and Earl Shilton. Straight over the roundabout and past the Limekilns Pub, then over the next roundabout. At the Dodwells Bridge roundabout take the A47, signposted Earl Shilton, through the Dodwells Industrial Estate, this is the Normandy Way. Continue on this road, past the Tesco Warehouse and the Triumph motorbike factory, over three more roundabouts and past the Safeway/Morrisons supermarket. At next traffic light crossroads go straight over signposted Earl Shilton. Carry on this road, down the hill where you will see the Stadium on your right. At the next roundabout turn right, 3rd exit, then entrance to the Marston Stadium is on your right.

By Train

Trains run every hour and take approx 20 mins and cheap day return is less than £6-00

The walk to the ground from the train station is approximately 3 miles. So either take a taxi, or the bus….

Directions by Foot.

Exit the train station into the station carpark then from the carpark entrance turn right into Southfield Road, and carry on as it runs into Park Road all the way to the junction by the Holywell pub. Turn left onto London Road, up the hill past the College, following the road around to the right into Spa Lane. At the next junction turn right into Leicester Road, and now comes the trek. Stay on Leicester Road, past a school, past loads of big houses, past the golf club, down the hill past the rugby and cricket ground then the Marston Stadium is on your left.

Places to visit

Battle of Bosworth Field To the north of Hinckley is the Bosworth Field, here on August 22nd 1485 the last King of England to die in battle was slain. The rebel traitor Henry Tudor defeated Richard III by act of treachery at the Bosworth Field and was then crowned King Henry VII. Today on the site is a Battlefield Centre and a walk around the Battlefield itself can be taken with a tour guide explaining the battle events.

Also for Steam Train enthusiasts there is the Battlefield Line Railway, which is a small steam railway. Part of the old Ashby to Nuneaton railway line has been restored and trips can be taken from Shenton Station at the Bosworth Field to Shakerstone Station some 5 miles away.

Where to Eat

Hinckley has it's fair share of fast food outlets. In and around the Market place there are a Subway, a Kentucky Fried Chicken, an English Cafe, 2 Chip Shops, a Kebab Shop and 2 Take Away Pizza Shops. As well as most of the Pub/Diners serving food. If you're coming to the ground by car or bus, on the A5 Watling Street between the M69 roundabout and the Dodwells Bridge roundabout there is The Hinckley Knight Pub, which sells food all day, and right next to it is The Three Pots, which is a Harvester Pub. Also along the A5 is The Limekilns Pub, on the banks of the Ashby Canal, that sells food. Right by the Dodwells roundabout is a Little Chef. From the Dodwells roundabout along the A47 Normandy Way at the 3rd Roundabout is the Hinckley Milestone, this is a Bank's Pub and Restaurant.
