Extend Deadline Until Manager Is Named

Today’s Leicester Mercury features a last ditch attempt by the Trust to persuade Leicester City that there was still time to extend the date of the season ticket renewal deadline incorporating the “Early Bird Discount”

The article made clear that the Foxes Trust Board’s view was that the deadline should be extended until at least a new manager is named, with board member Matt Davis quoted  “We can quite appreciate people are saying you should get behind the team regardless of the manager but the reality is people will wait.”

The Trust Board hopes that when the appointment is made by Milan Mandaric it will be someone who will inspire the fans, but feels it would be unfair that by that time existing season ticket holders would no longer be able to obtain the “Early Bird” rates.

The Mercury article went on to highlight that LCFC’s Just The Ticket prices were the eighth cheapest in League One for next season, however in terms of overall ground capacity, the 1,000 tickets available through this scheme is a small percentage in comparison to other clubs in the division.

The Foxes Trust Board feels the comparison of the Kop & Family Stands, traditionally the cheapest parts of the ground, is of more relevance, which places the club as 15th in terms of cheapest prices offered. The Foxes Trust Board had previously called for the Kop & Family Stand Early Bird prices to be reduced to £299……

The Mercury article detailed the lowest prices at a number of other clubs, however the Trust Board’s earlier research highlighted that fans who choose to sit in the more expensive seats, such as the West Stand, where the Early Bird prices are £498 are paying the third highest in the Division, with only Leeds (£575) and Colchester (£508), with the latter as a result of moving their new 10,000-seater Cuckoo Farm ground.

The only other club in League One charging above £400 prior to renewal deadlines is Brighton (£470). Immediately after relegation, based on this research, the Trust had called for a reduction in East Stand seats to £399 (from £450) to bring the club more into line with League One pricing structures.

The Trust will be analysing match ticket pricing levels across League One, once announced and then monitoring promotional discounts throughout next season, as the savings stated in Season Ticket literature and promotional activity as the season progresses is often an area of dissatisfaction among the fan base
