Trust Aims Review – Part One

We thought as the year came to an end it was a good time to review the progress the Foxes Trust has made against it’s originally declared aims. Our review is published over a series of articles, with each aim being examined in terms of progress achieved over the 5 years of our existance and how the aim will be taken forward while Leicester City is owned by Milan Mandaric.

Aim – To lobby, publicise and campaign to encourage the Board to take into account the interests of supporters when making its decisions.

Review – Over the past 5 years this has been achieved by building relationships with various LCFC board members and speaking directly with them rather than campaigning via the media. Of particular importance was the relationship with the Chief Executive (Tim Davies) and the previous Chairman (Andrew Taylor).

Over the period the Trust was consulted on a wide range of topics from ticket pricing, football manager selection, opposition selection for pre-season friendlies and many other topics. The only major disappointment was the introduction of a one year kit deal, which the Trust spoke against from the first time we became aware of the plan and continued to lobby to revert back to a 2 year kit cycle which finally took place this season….

Going Forward – The Trust Board recognises, while previously our views could be put over to a number of board members, the current situation is different and for any issue we need to convince Milan Mandaric. So far Milan Mandaric has attended one Trust Board meeting and since that time, Tim Davies has appeared briefly during two further meetings. The creation of an LCFC Advisory Board (more on this later) will offer a new route to communicate our viewpoint.

If the Trust does not make progress on a particular issue, then it is far more likely that we will utilise the media channels to communicate as a lobbying method.
