Plymouth PL2 3DQ – Friday April 12th 8pm
Directions Via A46, M5 and A38 235 miles 4hrs 15 mins, vis M1, M40 A303 275 mls5 hrs 15 mins
There is no very easy route, and you are very likely to encounter delays on Friday afternoon.
Most direct route is via the M69 onto the A46 to M5, leaving the M5 to join the A38, the stadium is situated just off the A38 and can be easily located along Outland Road.
From the east, take the A38 to Plymouth and exit at Manadon roundabout, signposted “Plymouth Argyle and Ferry Port” and A386. Take the second exit at the roundabout, following the direction of the flyover, to the left. Travel a mile on this road, and Home Park will appear on your left.
There are park and ride car parks at Coypool (PL7 4TB) or The George (PL6 7HB), and football special buses.
The Milehouse park and ride car park, adjacent to Home Park, is a large and free car park. As it is used by those travelling into the city centre and by users of the nearby Life Centre, the car park is usually very busy and fills up extremely quickly on match-days, so very early arrival is essential to secure a space.
Pubs
The Britannia is a sizeable Wetherspoons outlet around a 10-minute walk away from the ground (from the car park outside the football ground, turn left and the pub is down the road on the right-hand corner). Although away fan friendly, the pub doesn’t tolerate away supporters singing their clubs songs and any who do are quickly ejected from the premises.
Near to the pub is normally a van selling pasties, Opposite the Britannia is the Embassy Club which is best avoided by away fans. Around a 15-minute walk away from Home Park (going back in the direction of the A38) is the Cherry Tree pub on Ham Drive. A similar distance away (but going in the opposite direction across the Park) is the Hyde Park Social Club which welcomes visiting supporters
By Train
Travel by rail is through London
Trains take approx 5 hours off-peak return £125 with advance singles plus cost of crossing London. You will not get back to Leicester until Sat am.
Plymouth Railway Station lies one mile away from Home Park and there is a paved walking route (taking approx. 20 mins) that takes you through Central Park straight to the stadium.
Simply exit the station and walk down Saltash Road to the roundabout at the bottom of the hill and follow the pavement around to the right to briefly join
Russell Place, before turning left up onto Holdsworth Street. Walk straight up the road and continue straight on to join the path leading into the park, and follow this until you reach the stadium.
Please note that although picturesque, a portion of the walk is up a steep hill and so we would not suggest this route for those with access or mobility issues. Instead, the number 60 service (Plymouth Citybus), stops at the Railway Station bus stop which is directly accessible via a footbridge from the station entrance and stops on Outland Road, close to Home Park
