Leo Ulloa – Brighton View

Continuing our series of articles where we obtain a view on any new signings LCFC make from a fan of their previous club, today we turn again to Tim Carder of Brighton having raided the south coast club for a second time this summer.

“Leo Ulloa will be sorely missed at the Amex Stadium. He arrived in January 2013 from Spanish side Almeria and made an immediate impression, scoring with a diving header in a close FA Cup encounter with Arsenal.

In Spain he was known as “The Cyclone”, and he demonstrated some of the ferocity that earned him that nickname over the remainder of the season. Standing a well-built 6ft 2in, he scored a hat-trick against Huddersfield Town and ended the season with ten goals to his name as Brighton reached the play-offs.

A tremendous header of the ball, Leo also has the ability to hold the ball up and play in his team mates, and he is certainly not afraid to have a shot. In 2013/14 he was leading scorer at Brighton although he missed much of the autumn with a bad injury. Perhaps his most memorable contribution came in an away fixture at Nottingham Forest when his last-minute header secured the club a place in the play-offs for the second season running.

Brighton were unable to take advantage of their situation, though, and finally accepted an offer from Leicester reported to be around £8 million. Leo leaves Sussex with 26 goals from 58 appearances. Given the right service, he will score a hatful of goals.”
