Jake Wakeling Loan Report

For our next report in the series, we obtained the views of Jamie and Richard from the Bluebirds Trust (Barrow AFC) about the glimpses they had of young striker Jake Wakeling

“Jamie’s stats pretty much sum it up.

Played 173 mins across only 4 games. No goals. No assists.

So he didn’t play many minutes, in a poor team, under a poor manager, probably the worst case scenario for a loan player

I would only add that Jake was/is a young lad with potential but that he was far too green to be brought into a team that needed an experienced man, not a young kid.

The move was probably a shot in the dark by Mark Cooper and possibly a red flag to the club and fans in terms of him not really caring about the team or club, in the run up to his dismissal in March there were several others.

Given all the circumstances above he is probably not a player I would want us to re-sign.

I would think his best bet for future development would be a half or season long loan at a National League side where he can adjust properly over time to the “senior” game, gain some confidence and put himself in the shop window for a move higher up the EFL.”
