Trust – “Get Behind the Entire Team”

Foxes Trust Press Release … for immediate use

The Foxes Trust is appealing for all City fans to play their part in helping the players gain victories at home, by vocally getting behind the entire team.

In particular the Trust are concerned about pockets of fans who seem to pick on certain players from the moment they step on to the pitch.

Trust Chairman, Ian Bason, explained “There seems to be a small band of fans at home games who spend more of their time attacking a targeted few of our own players than actually supporting the team. Other than venting their frustration, I just don’t understand what they think they will gain by doing this”

Trust Board member Alan Digby spelt out what the Trust feel are the actual consequences “These fans are not helping the side, as we see it all they will achieve is:

1) Give the opposition players a lift

2) Give the opposition fans a lift

3) Make the opposition managers job easier

4) Dent the confidence of the our players even more

5) Force them to try things that are not in the "gameplan" in an attempt to get the crowd back on board, leading to even more mistakes and loss of shape.”…..

Ian Bason stated “We are not saying that fans that have paid good money to attend should not show their disapproval of a poor performance, but this is best shown at the half time and full time whistle, and should be directed at the team, not selected players”

Alan Digby added “We are urging fans to turn up to games with open minds about every player and get behind all of them. Our home record is appalling and every part of the club needs to work hard to address this, including us the fans. It is no co-incidence that the away form matches the better vocal support that is given. We need to give encouragement and try to lift the players, not to add further pressure, then we as fans can be certain we have played our part”

The Foxes Trust was formed in 2002 and came to prominence when it helped save Leicester City Football Club when it was in administration. Having become one of the top 15 shareholders of Leicester City owning in excess of £150,000 shares, it agreed to sell it’s shares to Milan Mandaric as part of his takeover of the club in February 2007.

It is entirely separate from the management of Leicester City and any other supporters’ organisations. It exists to ensure that the problems which resulted in administration in 2002 do not recur, and to represent the City supporter and supporter interests at the highest levels within the management of the club.
