Six days before the new season, the Police announced another 16 Leicester City fans had been issued with banning orders. Each received a football banning order of between three and five years which prevents them attending any regulated football match in the UK and also prevents overseas travel when the team they support, or the national team, are playing in a different country. Some of the men have also been banned from entering areas in Leicester on matchdays both before and after the game.
The circumstances that led to these particular bans took place away from the stadium. At the stadium, entering the pitch without permission, carrying or using smoke bombs or pyrotechnics and drug use are all behaviours not wanted. This also includes discriminatory behaviour, in which abuse using homophobic, racist or religious language is used. We also don’t need any tragedy chanting, or nasty social media posts either. You face prosecution and banning orders from the Crown Prosecution Service, and/or bans from the club.
The club also runs the risk of a five-figure fine for not managing supporter behaviour. We don’t need to remind fans that our finances could be better spent elsewhere at the moment.
Ahead of our opening league fixture at the KP this Monday against Spurs, the Foxes Trust would therefore like to remind fans to get behind the team and stay positive. We need everyone there this season. Show your support in a positive way by helping to create a fantastic but safe experience for all. Don’t risk getting banned.
If you do find yourself at risk of being banned contact Lynn at the Foxes Trust (lynn.wyeth@foxestrust.com) or the Football Supporters Association (FSA) for advice. Membership of the FSA is free. https://thefsa.org.uk/contact/
