Oppos View – Sheffield Utd

A bit about you:

Name: Jamie Furniss

Current home town: Sheffield

Birthplace: Sheffield

How long have you supported your team? 17 years

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: Well, it is the oldest professional football ground in the world. Despite that, it's still very modern and one of the best in the country, apart from the obvious ones. I do quite like the Walkers Stadium too, though

Favourite match played by your team & why:  Sheffield United 4:3 Nottingham Forest – Play-off Semi-final. We were 2:0 down in the second-leg (3:1 on aggregate),  but we pulled it back to 2:2, then went ahead, and eventually won 4:3. One of the best games Bramall Lane has ever seen……..

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? You'd have to say Leon Britton. He's quality with the ball, and can pick out some clinical passes. I couldn't believe it when he chose us ahead of a couple of Premier League teams. He is, though, going through a sticky patch at the moment. Andy Reid is on loan from Sunderland, but we've seen very little of him due to injury, but he oozes quality.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? No one really, we're on a real low at the moment and I'd say our players are not confident whatsoever. Perhaps Mark Yeates, the winger, he can turn it on at times.

Player in our squad you most fear and why? Probably Kyle Naughton. We inexplicably sold him to Tottenham just over a year ago, and it still infuriates United fans that he's playing for another Championship team and not us.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Matt Lowton. He's very versatile, can play all across the backline, and in midfield. He broke on to the scene at the very end of last year, and has gone on from strength to strength this year.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? If you asked me at the start of the season, I'd have said 6th – 10th, but now I'm thinking more 18th!!!! We should be nowhere near the drop zone, and we, as fans, are NOT HAPPY and are very concerned. If it continues, we could get relegated, and I can't believe I'm saying this.

How do you think you’ll do against us? Lose 3:0. We are conceding sloppy goals EVERY GAME, and we cannot score. We've score only 10 goals in 15 games this season. That is nothing short of appalling!
