Holloway made no surprises in his team selection and went with the same 11 that took a point at Molineux
City started the brighter with Clemence and N’Gotty linking up well in the centre of midfield and taking the game to Ipswich.
It wasn’t long before city took the lead, with 12 minutes on the clock Stephen Clemence whipped free kick was glanced on by Gareth McAuley and knocked in on the line by Richard Stearman.
Only 2 minutes later Stearman could have had a second but his bullet header only found the side netting. However City did double their advantage on 34 minutes, another fine Clemence free kick was met by the head of Patrick Kisnorbo and past Alexander to give City the cushion that they needed.
Leicester could have nicked another straight from kick off but Collins John effort was off target. HALF TIME 2-0…..
The 2nd half started in bizarre fashion with the referee being hit in the face with the ball and needing to be replaced. Ipswich created a few chances and perhaps De Vos should have pulled 1 back but his shot went wide.
City did well to see the game off until the end at could have got a 3rd in injury time but Hume’s shot was straight at the keeper.
Full time 2-0
I’m sure if fans who don’t watch city that often came down on Boxing day and watched that performance they would have been saying "well what’s the problem then!".
Stearman was excellent at right back as was Fryatt up front, Clemence was back to somewhere near his best and N’Gotty is filling in well alongside him.

The key now is to build on this, Charlton at home followed by QPR away are games we need to be taking points from before Holloway can bring a few players in to boost the quality of the squad.
