The Foxes Trust is pleased to see that the first meeting of the Fans Advisory Board took place and that it discussed some important issues for supporters such as the safe standing timetable, improving the matchday experience, development of a fanzone and supporter behaviour.
The Trust worked with the club to develop the FAB and was successful in getting an extra supporter place on the FAB. Despite some last-minute concerns relating to the apparent club vetting procedures included in the documentation, we were pleased that two places were allocated via an election from the Fans Consultative Committee. The two people elected were on the FCC as representatives of fans organisations.
The final three places were selected via an application and interview process where the Foxes Trust, the Football Supporters Association and Leicester City representatives had an equal say on narrowing down from an excellent set of candidates to the final three that were chosen. The Foxes Trust has been successful in ensuring that the fan representatives have not been directly selected by the club, which has occurred at some other clubs.
The Trust is backing the FAB, and the Fan Engagement Framework generally, but the entire framework needs to deliver meaningful consultation and results, e.g. on safe standing.
The Trust would like to see more prominence given to the FAB minutes in future, as they were somewhat hidden on the LCFC website with no fanfare and it would also like a timelier publication of the minutes.
The minutes of the first meeting have been published HERE.
FAB representatives can be contacted by emailing FAB@lcfc.co.uk. If you do not get a response from the FAB, please let us know on mail@foxestrust.com
