On Sunday afternoon a host of City legends took on a Guest XI Aylestone Park FC in aid of Callum, Connor & Jack Smith, three young lads diagnosed with a rare terminal illness ALD, which attacks the brain and central nervous system.
The Legends, led by Ali Mauchlen included former team mates Gary Mills, Paul Ramsey, Paul Reid & Jimmy Quinn while Matty Elliot & Gerry Taggart renewed their central defensive partnership in front of keeper Carl Muggleton.

The opening exchanges were keenly contested with the Guest XI including a number of Senior League players keen to give a good account of themselves against their more skilful, if somewhat older opponents….
Paul Reid was at the heart of most of the Legends' attacks

Muggleton in goal was largely a spectator.
The Legends eventually took the lead when Loughborough Dynamo Manager Dougie Keast guesting for the Legends got into the area & expertly finished to give the keeper no chance.
The Legends had a number of chances to extend their lead before Jimmy Quinn capped a fine move by volleying in right wing cross to give the Legends a 2-0 half time lead.

The Legends started the 2nd half with David Oldfield coming on & making some typically strong runs from midfield. Both side made numerous changes during the 2nd half & the Legends would add three more before the Guest XI were rewarded with the final goal of the game to give a final score of 5-1 to the Legends.

The result though was not main object of the afternoon, that was of course to raise a much money as possible for Callum, Connor & Jack & it was great to see a sizable crowd turnout to give their support to the cause.
Our best wishes go to Callum, Connor & Jack & their parents Nicola & Scott.
