Two days left to bid for a matchday shirt!
For the home game against Ipswich, it was a welcomed move by the Club to have Leicester Hospitals Charity as the front of shirt sponsor. A move also replicated with the kit worn by LCFC Women for their game with London City. Something like this has been a long time coming and we hope it can be repeated soon.
Most Leicester City supporters who follow news from the Foxes Trust know our stance about our Club associating itself with BC Game. Having this organisation as the Club’s front of shirt sponsor was not something we wanted to see and in early July 2024, soon after the deal was announced, we set out our opposition to it.
It was always felt by the Trust that aligning Leicester City so prominently with a gambling organisation was not who we are … or at least, who we used to be. And it was made far worse by the Club choosing a crypto gaming business that has been unable to obtain a license from the Gambling Commission to trade in the UK.
Choosing the Leicester Hospitals Charity, a worthy cause to support, and then promoting the charity through the front of shirt advert and encouraging supporters to donate to it, is a step in the right direction. It helps forge ties with the community of Leicester, something the Club did so well in years past.
We thank all supporters that donated to this cause through the matchday bucket collections, and also encourage supporters to consider purchasing limited edition shirts, and entering the auction to acquire the match-worn shirts … there is still time to do this and bids need to be submitted by 20 December for the men’s shirt and by 21 December for the women’s shirt.
