Profiteering ‘fans’ criticised by Foxes Trust

The Foxes Trust has condemned any party selling tickets above face value for Leicester’s final home game against Everton, following tickets advertised for sale on websites for £15,000 a pair.

At the same time, many fans who have paid the club for membership packages which offer priority access to tickets have been unable to buy tickets for the match – which has now sold out.

Trust Vice Chairman Matt Davis said “We know the club will be as angry as the fans about this blatant profiteering, and we have asked the club to clarify what actions it is taking against any individual selling a ticket this way.”

“Long-term City fans all want to be at the game to celebrate the most successful season in the club’s history.  It’s appalling that many are deprived of this opportunity whilst some greedy individuals have obtained tickets and are now trying to rip fans off.”

“Emotions are running high amongst the fans unable to obtain tickets, so for transparency purposes we would like the club to provide a breakdown as to how many tickets in total were available for home fans (after deducting mandatory segregation seats and away fans allocations and home season ticket allocations) and then which categories of membership these remaining seats were allocated to.  We estimate approximately 6,000 seats were available for allocation to home supporters and so it would be appropriate to provide details of how these were allocated.”

“Although we understand the temptation to pay over the odds to see the historic match, we urge fans not to do so and instead report any over-priced tickets to the club. We suspect there could even be forged tickets in circulation, so we are advising fans to ask any seller for an image of the ticket, this could then be communicated to the club to trace the source.”

“There has been much comment this season about how the players, the club and the fans have such a strong bond.  Now we have to work together to eradicate those profiteering by taking seats away from genuine fans.”
