Oppos Viewpoint – Ipswich

A bit about you:

Name: Alan Marsh

Current home town: Sudbury

Birthplace: Croydon, Surrey (it was in Surrey then)

How long have you supported your team? 45 years  (aged 50, so been supporting ITFC since 1969. ST holder).

Overview of your club:

Underachievers, less broken promises than in recent years, selling club (Creswell on his way ?). Some strange management decisions but no so strange as last year !

Favourite thing about your home ground: One of the best in the league. (But the seats are still too small)

Favourite match played by your team & why: ITFC 1 Liverpool 0 – was a very exciting game. ITFC won in last few minutes.

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Clive Woods

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why?  Tommy Smith is quite good, he has improved a lot in the last year.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? David McGoldrick seems to know what the goal posts are for. Not seen Steven Hunt yet but the rumours are good.

Player in our squad you most fear and why? No question: David Nugent (if he plays) he always, and I mean always, scores at Portman Road. The rat !

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Jack Marriot (Who, bewilderingly, we have put out on loan !)  Creswell – who looks to be on his way to WBA !

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? Mid table..

How do you think you’ll do against us? A draw at best. But I will take a win thanks.

Any other comments?  ITFC are a great club and largely good to support.

We are better with Mick McCarthy and Terry Cooper but I think they are getting more from the team than the sum of players so I think we will be caught out a few more times yet,. We still seem to be aimless with regular back passes from strong positions, square passes and passing to the opposition !

Just wish we would stop selling or letting go our best players: Upsom, Marriot, Carson, Eastman, Rhoads, Mcauley, Norris, David Wright, Garvan, Lee (he back now but yet to play again), Wickham, Trotter, Scotland, the list just goes on. They all seem to regularly score for their current teams or the England !l.

We also fail to sign great players such as DJ Campbell, George Friend, and Boyd, even when they want to come. This must be poor management & poor finances ?
