A bit about you:

Name: Martin Jones

Current home town: Leicester, Birthplace: Bristol

How long have you supported your team? Since around 1974 – about a third of a century, then. Scary thought!

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: The Atyeo Stand behind the goal provides the best atmosphere.

Favourite match played by your team & why: Beating Portsmouth 1-0 at Ashton Gate in 1976 to clinch promotion to the top flight. We scored after 4 minutes, and spent the next 86 celebrating! A repetition is long overdue!

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Norman Hunter played for us in the late 70’s, and needless to say achieved instant cult status.

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Jamie McCombe – a solid defender who has been compared to a young Tony Adams. Just coming back from injury, but has impressed me every time I’ve seen him. Dangerous at the other end as well….

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Marvin Elliott – a combative box-to-box player who can also score spectacular goals.

Player in our squad you most fear and why? Patrick Kisnorbo – central member of the tightest defence in the Championship, and can score goals as well.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Cole Skuse – 21-year-old local lad, a utility player with a good footballing brain.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? Before the campaign started, most of us would have happily settled for 21st, but now, who knows? Hard to believe we’ll gain automatic promotion, but at the moment we look capable of making the play-offs.

How do you think you’ll do against us? Both teams have proved hard to beat so far. We’ve lost just once at home, Leicester have lost just once away and don’t concede many, so a low-scoring draw is probably the best bet.

Any other comments? This time two years ago we were 23rd in League 1, and in the midst of a run of 9 straight defeats. Now we’re holding our own with the big boys – Leicester, Wolves, West Brom, Leeds (oops, I forgot – well, maybe next season!). Heady days!
