View from the Opposition – Bournemouth

A bit about you:

Name: Brian Roberts

Current home town: Stafford

Birthplace: Liverpool

How long have you supported your team? 25 years

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: a great atmosphere generated by home and away fans. I tend to sit close to the away fans and there is always great banter between the two sets of supporters. When the cherries scored against Cardiff in the first game of the season there was an instant chant of England 1 Wales 0.

Favourite match played by your team & why: when we won 1:0 away to Chelsea. Mourinho was the manager and our two favourite  songs were “we have the chosen one” and “you’re getting sacked in the morning”. Which did happen! I missed last years 3:0 win at Chelsea which must have been even better.

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: in my time of watching them probably Steve Fletcher, but some of the current team are pushing hard to take over my top spot. One player in that category is Calum Wilson. To come back from two devastating injuries and continue to play at the top level is incredible.

About our forthcoming match against you:  a very tough game. It’s always hard to predict results after an international break. But if pushed into giving a prediction I would go for 1:1. Leicester have an excellent team with some high quality players. It should be an entertaining game for both sets of supporters.

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Ryan Fraser. Bags of talent and very brave.

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? I would have said Ryan Fraser who has started the season so well. But he is a big doubt for the game. Wilson and King are playing well so I would expect us to score.

Player in our squad you most fear and why? Jamie Vardy because he is a top quality striker and Harry Maguire from set pieces (I was really pleased you resisted the demands of Man U when they tried to buy him).

Up and coming prospect in your squad? David Brooks looks a tremendous buy.

How do you think you’ll do against us? As I said in my answer to an earlier question I’m going for 1:1. But a win for the cherries against a top ten team like Leicester would be brilliant. .

General Questions:

What did you think to the summer transfer activity both in and out of your club? We did excellent business. We have a stronger squad than last year so that has to be good.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season? 9th or 10th.

Who do you think will win the league? Man City but it will be a very close race between them and Liverpool.

Which three teams do you think will get relegated from the Premiership? Cardiff, West Ham and Huddersfield.
