Fans For Diversity Mini-documentary Series

Leicester City's LGBT fans group Foxes Pride are one of 4 fans groups to be featured in a mini-series released by Kick It Out on You Tube today.

Each film offers an insight into the unique matchday experience of the supporters, as well as exploring the reasons why they love their club and explaining some of the discrimination or barriers faced by those fans in attending football games.

In a short film, Rishi and Kate reflect on why they helped set up Foxes Pride, the backing they've received from the club itself and the camaraderie they share with other club LGBT supporters group. There are now 44 in existence across the English and Scottish divisions.

Kick It Out and the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) have launched an application process for their ‘Fans for Diversity’ fund aimed at encouraging and helping with the facilitation of fan-led activity celebrating equality and diversity in football.

Since launching in March 2014, the ‘Fans for Diversity’ campaign, jointly run by Kick It Out and the FSF, has given fans from across the country the opportunity to highlight the importance of creating a fully-inclusive matchday atmosphere at all levels of the game.

‘Fans for Diversity’ has funded a number of initiatives and events including the establishment of an LGBT fans’ group network entitled #PrideinFootball, as well as official supporters groups such as the Punjabi Rams and the Bangla Bantams.

In addition, the fund has helped to support the hosting of the largest annual Southampton Disability Supporters’ Association open day, a panel debate on the experiences of women football supporters and a Non League Day roadshow, among several other events.
