Oppos View – Leeds Part 2

A bit about you:

Name: Tony Edeson

Current home town:  Leicester (although it is a City!)

Birthplace: Driffield, East Yorkshire

How long have you supported your team? 45 years – 24 as Season Ticket Holders (me and my son).

Overview of your club:

Favourite thing about your home ground: Atmosphere, size and passion of crowd (even through recent hard times) and playing surface.

Favourite match played by your team & why: Everton, home in 1967 – my first trip to ER.

Favourite player of all time who played for your club: Tony Currie – what a masterful player and in an era of showmanship he was ‘Billy Smart’!!

About our forthcoming match against you:

Your favourite current player in your squad and why? Ross McCormack – had hard time when he came but persevered and has had his rewards this season. He tries 100% all match, chases back and has scored some great goals this season (none quite as good as Adam Clayton’s 25 yarder at Leicester though!!).

Player in your squad we should most fear and why? Billy Paynter – if he plays, he is so average that he may well score a fluke hat trick!

Player in our squad you most fear and why? Jermaine Beckford – he’s Leeds and he knows he is! Plus, returning players always seem to score against us.

Up and coming prospect in your squad? Tom Lees – Future England Centre Half if looked after properly.

Where do you think the season went wrong for you this year & why? October. Lost too many games and drew many from winning positions. Persevered with Grayson for 3 months too long. Brought Colin in after transfer window closed.

What did you think about the appointment of Warnock initially? He’s been there, done it. Is making the right noises and can stand up to Bates. So pleased.

What do you think about it now? If he walks the walk like he’s talked the talk we may well be next seasons ones to watch. If he doesn’t, he’ll be gone by Bonfire Night *(or on one).

How well do you think you'll do next season? As above – either top two or mid table mediocrity. It is Leeds United after all – we have no in between!

How do you think you’ll do against us? Nothing to play for. Looking at players for next season, will probably use squad players that haven’t had a game to see whether worth keeping. Injury to Bromby was a blow as short of numbers now at the back. If the ‘good’ side turn up we could win, if not we’ll lose…………………..and (before the game earlier this season, you were one of our bogey teams! If the side (LUFC) that spent £500K can do the double over the one that spent £25M, I suppose we’d be happy!
